Ranking

AvaTrade ranks number 9 on TraderGuide’s ranking list. The ranking list is based on the cost of trading with AvaTrade, in the 16 most commonly traded instruments globally.

What you need to know about AvaTrade

AvaTrade is an Irish FX and CFD broker with offices and licences worldwide. In fact, it is one of the brokers with the most regulatory licences globally, including in Japan, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Ireland, the British Virgin Islands (BVI), and Cyprus.

AvaTrade is a major player in the FX and CFD industry, offering services that certain other brokers do not, such as options trading in FX, as well as stocks, bonds, and ETFs.

What do we like about AvaTrade?

AvaTrade has a strong reputation, and their multiple licences make them one of those brokers you feel you can trust.

They offer a variety of platforms, including their own Home-Grown web trading platform, MT4 and MT5, as well as a social copy trading app.

AvaTrade is also one of the few brokers that provide their services in Canada, which is relatively rare in the industry.

What concerns us about AvaTrade?

It is important to note that AvaTrade charges an inactivity fee if you are not active for more than three months. This fee is quite high at $50, so you should be aware of this potential cost.

Their stock index Bid-Ask prices are somewhat expensive compared to other brokers, and they use variable spreads. If the index markets are volatile, AvaTrade will widen the spread accordingly.

Their FX spreads are relatively reasonable but still on the expensive side compared to other brokers. For example, their EUR/USD spread is 0.90 (seemingly fixed), but many brokers offer lower Bid-Ask spreads.

Should you trade with AvaTrade?

AvaTrade ranks reasonably well on TraderGuide’s ranking list. If you open an account with AvaTrade, you will be trading with a company that has more regulatory oversight than most brokers. This is an important consideration for traders who value fund safety alongside tight spreads.

AvaTrade provides services to Canadian citizens, making them a rarity in this regard. They also offer FX options, another feature that is uncommon among brokers.

Overall, AvaTrade is a safe choice for the conservative trader looking for a reliable broker with a solid selection of products.
